Heading into the Future Without Forgetting The Past – Parliamentary Digital Service Case Study
Presented by Alex Smith, Programme Manager at Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS)
The Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS) is a Parliamentary department that works with both the House of Lords and the House of Commons, developing and providing strategic direction for Parliament’s digital technology services. To ensure that both their Cloud-first approach and key strategy of “winning hearts and minds through key stakeholder engagement” were being delivered, PDS wanted to transition from their old, inflexible legacy telephony systems and modernise their methods of communication. Alex Smith, Programme Manager at PDS, shares how they embarked on a journey of digital transformation by enabling Skype for Business as a highly-flexible, best-of-breed Unified Communications solution that would modernise PDS’ and the wider Houses of Parliament’s IT and telephony, with GCI’s technical experts working very closely with the PDS staff to effectively deliver the solution.
